Essential Information

Our Uniform
All children from Reception to Year 6 are required to wear a school uniform which consists of black trouser bottoms, a white t-shirt or polo shirt (with school logo) and a black jumper (with school logo). We have recently changed to a black jumper from the previous light blue one. Both jumpers will, however, be accepted as part of the uniform until July 2009. Other uniform items are available and include a black fleece for cooler weather, a cap for the summer and also a school book bag.

School Meals
Each school meal costs £1.80 per child, or £9.00 for the week, and should be paid in advance each Monday using the envelope provided.

If you think you may qualify for Free School Meals, please fill in the relevant forms (available at the office) and return them with the correct proof. You will be given a certificate of entitlement, which will need to be renewed each year.

Sickness and Absence
If your child is sick, the school needs to know. Please call the office on 0207 704 3900 on the first morning your child is unwell, stating their full name, class and their illness. The child’s absence is then marked on the register as authorised. For any parent/carer who does not give the school a reason for their child’s absence, the child will have an unauthorised absence mark against their name in the school’s register. It is imperative that you call the school prior to 9.30am to inform us of their absence. If your child is sick for more than one day, please call us each day they will not be in school. If your child has an appointment during school hours, please bring in a copy of the appointment card so that we may copy it for their file.

Holidays
It is not advisable for your child to be taken out of school during the term for holidays. All children are required to attend school all year round and any absences are recorded on their school record. Children miss out on vital learning opportunities every day they are away from school which is detrimental to their progress.

Making a Complaint
Should you have a complaint or something you are not happy about in the school, we have a complaints procedure that should be followed at all times.

1. In the first instance, please talk to your child’s teacher about the matter who will try to help you resolve it.

2. If the problem still persists, please ask the office to arrange for you to speak to the Head of your child’s Key Stage:

Ms Gunn-Stokes (Foundation Stage - for Nursery and Reception)
M
r Dunn (KS1 – for Years 1 and 2)
Mr Taylor (KS2 – for Years 3 - 6)
Ana Sevilla (Children’s Centre)

3. If you feel the matter needs to be taken further, an appointment can be made to speak to the Deputy Head teacher, Elizabeth Ansell. This can be done through the school office.

4. If you are not satisfied or feel the problem is still evident after you have seen the Deputy Head teacher, you may make an appointment with the Head teacher, Mary McStay through her PA, Hayley Bradley.
